Just 15

My Lovelies

In this series I’m going to choose one WIP and work on it for 15 minutes a day, then post my progress here weekly.

First up? I’ve got a Christmas quilt started, that has literally been on my design wall since last year. Yes, sad I know. With my business thriving and growing, it’s left little time to quilt for myself. Like Nike says, “Just Do It.”

So here’s the story, my friend Linda, of Quilting Under the Influence, put together a charm exchange last year(the quilt *ahem* was supposed to be finished by LAST Christmas ;-/ ). It was great fun, and we had, are you sitting down? 100% participating, and you know, I think everyone was on time too!! Can you imagine?

Here are the lovely charms I received.

Here come the charms! Don’t you love happy mail?!?!

They came, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. One of the rules of the swap was that there were no rules, now you perfectionist creatives out there know that is a blessing and a curse. Lol. I knew I wanted a “quilt,” but still feature the diversity of the charmers.  So I added in some Twas The Night, by Nancy J. Smith and Lynda S. Milligan(oh, yes, I do love my stash), and made a bunch of hst. I worked and worked, but it just needed a little something more…

Love laying it out on the floor and running up the stairs to “see” if it’s right. I’ve got 4 kids… What the heck am I running for? 😉

So I made this….

and set it like this…

Just because you don’t expect it… STILL not sure if it works… Oh, well…

And this is what I’ve had up since 2011… I think it’s time we put this baby to bed, or maybe “on the bed.” Ha!  See you next Monday!!

On The Nightstand

If you’re a reader, you’re always curious as to what’s on anothers nightstand or bookshelf. Am I right? Ha!! Come on, complete honesty here. You know it tells you loads about a person! I’ve got to say, I find the mind fascinating. What goes through mine on a given day would probably scare the crap right out of ya! No, it does not always fit my brand, lol.

Anyway…. This is where I’ll share what I’m reading. I read to learn and for enjoyment. My goal is to read one business related book a month; doesn’t always happen. And…I’ll admit, I do read some trash, sue me. I’m a 40 year old woman. Ha! I’ve earned it. 😛  But for the sake of the innocent, we’ll keep it rated at least PG13. 😉

This Little Pig Went to Market

Home, I’m home, but it’s a little bittersweet. The 2012 International Quilt Market was more than I ever imagined, and tho I did miss the kiddos a wee bit, I think I could have stayed!

Arriving in Kansas City on Wednesday, I went straight away to the airport to pickup the wonderfully talented Scott Hansen of Blue Nickel Studios! It’s a good thing, too, because I kinda sorta had his clothes with me! But that’s another story. 😉

From there we went to the convention center…

And picked up my credentials!! Eeeeeekkkk!!!

After the booth was set up, and we were leaving the convention hall, my mouth was dry. It was then I realized I was walking with my jaw gaping open. :-/ I was told I wasn’t the first for that to happen to. 😉

Exhausted I was by this time, so headed over to the hotel to await the arrival of my roomie, the lovely Kristi McDonough, the very talented Shari Butler and her sweet hubster Dan. I can say it was love at first sight! Here we are, two weary travelers(hint: we look much better in the morning) just moments after meeting.

Stay tuned…I’ll talk about Thursday tomorrow. And Scott’s shirts…does anyone want to know about those? Maybe I’ll write about that process, but only if you’re interested. 😉

Love to you!!!
